2Founded in 1972, Chapel Haven is an award-winning non-profit devoted to helping adults with social and developmental disabilities learn to live self-empowered and independent adult lives. Chapel Haven offers a nationally accredited transitional living program and is also an approved private special education school designed to help adults with a wide variety of profiles, from autism to mild intellectual disabilities, Down Syndrome and Asperger Syndrome.

Chapel Haven is approved through SEVIS to accept international students. Recent students who have attended Chapel Haven and Chapel Haven West hail from Canada, Mexico, England and even the Middle East. Applicants for Chapel Haven must have a command of English and must be 18 years of age or older. Our individuals have developmental or social disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities and Down Syndrome. They are high school grads or still completing high school credits. They are emotionally and behaviorally stable and motivated to eventually transition into independent, productive lives.

In the traditional REACH (Residential Education at Chapel Haven) プログラム, based in New Haven, Conn., adults 18+ with mild developmental disabilities and autism live apartment-style in an intensive 24-month Residential Life Skills program on the Chapel Haven campus. They learn to negotiate all aspects of independent living while enjoying a state approved education program and a nationally accredited transitional living program. Asperger Syndrome Adult Transition Program (ASAT)

Chapel Haven also offers the Asperger Syndrome Adult Transition Program (ASAT), based in New Haven, Conn., for adults with high functioning autism, Asperger Syndrome and related social disabilities. The ASAT program at Chapel Haven is an ideal choice for adults who need:

Chapel Haven West opened in 2008 in Tucson, AZ and provides residential transition and lifelong supports for adults 18+ with autism spectrum disorders and related social disabilities. The program is a satellite of Chapel Haven, Inc., in New Haven, Conn., founded in 1972 by parents and dedicated to providing lifelong supports for adults with cognitive and social disabilities. Chapel Haven’s other two programs are based in New Haven, CT.

New Haven, Conn., where Chapel Haven’s main campus is located, is a mid-sized cosmopolitan city with easy access to public transportation, higher education (six colleges are within easy reach from Chapel Haven’s Westville campus), jobs and culture.
